Obituary for Thomas J Dolce Jr.
Thomas J. Dolce died Wednesday February 3, 2021 at his home in Stirling, NJ with his loving family at his side. He was 88.
Tom was born in Silver Creek, NY, on December 29, 1932 a son to the late Anna (Valvo) and Thomas J. Dolce, Sr. living in multiple states before moving to Stirling in 1974.
He was a graduate of the University of Rochester where he received his BS in Chemistry then achieved his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Buffalo.
Tom worked as a Research Chemist for Celanese in Summit, NJ for over 25 years before retiring in 1994.
He was a volunteer at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ achieving over 3000 hours of service, He loved to travel the world both for work and vacation and lived in France briefly during his employment. He was a member of the Summit Old Guard, enjoyed reading and playing golf, and spending time as a snowbird playing golf at his home in Seminole, FL.
Tom was a faithful parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Annette (Quaely) Dolce, his two sons, Thomas J. Dolce III and his wife Kimberley, and Gregory M. Dolce and his wife Lisa. He is also survived by his grandchildren Anna, Michael, Rachel, Lauren and Melanie.
Visitation for Tom will be Friday, February 5, 2021 from 2-4 pm at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Bebout Ave., Stirling at 10:00 AM.
